March 10th – Video chat with 350.org and meeting

We gathered at the “Veggie House” to watch the video chat with 350.org organizers.  We had a great turnout, 20-30 people, and a lot of new faces.

Here is the video chat

Afterwards we had a chance to introduce ourselves and had a group discussion covering many different topics.  We decided to form several working groups that would focus on what seemed to be the main areas of interest.  The working groups are:

1. Coal/LNG exports

2. Fossil Fuels Divestment

3. Carbon Tax, working with CCL (Citizens Climate Lobby)

A sign up sheet was created for people to indicate interest and groups can have strategy sessions and then report back to the larger group with updates and recommendations for actions.  Please contact us if you would like more information.  In addition to the working groups, 350 Corvallis will continue to work on education and outreach as well as participate in other 350.org campaigns such as civil disobedience to stop the Keystone XL pipeline.
