Rise Up, Turn Down Their Power

RISE UP, TURN DOWN THEIR POWER by Loretta Rivard

Our planet, the earth, what a wondrous thing,
its beauty, its bounty, of these I sing.
So many species, a balance of nature,
then we drilled and consumed, not thinking of later. Now the climate is changing from all of our travel, our heating and cooling, our gadgets and cattle. The drilling, the fracking, well let’s not pretend,

so stand up to big money, their power must end. Shake up corporate energy, end their control, subsidize solutions, instead of their coal.

Rise up, turn down their power.
We have reached the eleventh hour. Love the earth, and all her creation. Act beyond yourself, and your nation. RISE! RISE! RISE!

Let’s get leaders that have their priorities straight,
like Jay Inslee, he knows the hour is late.
Think big, act bold, on your own and together,
no more silence to a friend’s complaints of the weather. Consider your footprint, power sources and use,

why the meat, needless travel, big houses and loot. But none of this works if the powers that be, continue their plunder, their lies and their greed. Create a new world that caring people control,

that we cherish with love, and we bless as a whole.

Rise up, turn down their power.
We have reached the eleventh hour. Love the earth, and all her creation. Act beyond yourself, and your nation. RISE! RISE! RISE!

So join in the boycott, and ramp up the pressure, On Fossil Free Fridays, the losses they’ll measure. Then share the idea, and join a local group
’til Wall Street and Congress, finally get the scoop. So we carpool to work, bus or bike to the store, the TV is off, there’s a new rapport.

When enough people rise up and say no to big oil, alternative energy jobs they won’t spoil.
Now take up the challenge and join in the fun,
the children, the planet, well we are all one.

Rise up, turn down their power.
We have reached the eleventh hour. Love the earth, and all her creation. Act beyond yourself, and your nation. RISE! RISE! RISE!
