We had our first meeting at the Westminster House. We had a low turnout this week. Several members were headed to Washington DC for the Forward on Climate rally, others were out of town and the rest had better plans for a Valentines Day. 🙂 We had a new member come, Susan, who heard about us from the article in the Corvallis Advocate.
Tabling at the Eco film series this month is going well. We’ve connected with some potential new members.
We will be helping with the Albany Coal Train forum on the 17th, this is our solidarity action with the rally in DC.
Would like to plan an event for when members return from DC so they can share stories, experiences and pictures.
Discussed some ideas for Earth Day. Martha was thinking we could do some outreach outside of stores asking people to consider where the items they are buying come from and the impact of their decisions. The Environmental Center has an event on Sunday, not sure if anything is planned for Monday, which is Earth Day.
Since we had a small group we were able to spend some time just discussing climate change and different strategies for dealing with it.
